Financial freedom

Remember when we had to work our very first jobs for some extra cash to buy gifts for a significant other? Or even get gifts and reward ourselves? It felt amazing to know that we weren’t under our parents’ wings anymore, like we were actually stepping into adulthood. It was exciting! Where’d that time go? All I remember, ever since I started working my corporate job, are the long hours I had to drag myself through, the long sighs I let out when I had to wake up to an alarm in the morning and how I laid in bed for an extra fifteen mins contemplating my life, how I skipped meals, how I had to rush out looking all professional and dazzling to be somewhere at a specific time to impress people I hardly know so they’d buy from me (SALES!!) I was burned out. Every penny I made went straight into paying rent and bills. I don’t have kids yet, but I would’ve wound up on the streets if I did, truthfully speaking.

“I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired”

Sick and Tired

“But what if I can’t make that much?” I know it’s a big number, and I know that working your 9 to 5 and saving up on your 401k is not going to get you enough. If you’re happy with your 9 to 5, then by all means keep doing it. You always do what makes you happy. There’s no getting around that, but what if I told you that there’s a way you can earn an extra income or even a full time income at the comfort of your home? Just like how I do? What if I told you that you could earn from anywhere in the world? Using just your laptop or computer? I’m putting something really great together for you so you can stay home and enjoy life to the fullest while still getting those big bucks flowing into your account.

As stressful a job is, it is what’s paying your bills and providing for your family, right? I learned to cope through everything thrown at me and I saved up money. Every penny I could save, went into a savings account. I was doing this for myself, this money was mine, all that commission I was earning through every cable deal was mine, I was able to afford to eat and live under a roof independently because “I” was funding for myself, all that was “mine”. There’s going to be a peek point in life where nothing seems to be going right, and this is where you need to push yourself instead of taking the fall. Don’t let your job cut you from below your knees.

Laying out the platform – “How much do I need to retire?”

Here’s the exact numbers you need to retire and live the rest of your life with all the freedom in the world. You need a $1.2 to $1.7 million dollar platform to keep you going for the rest of your life after you quit your job. Why so much you ask? It’s to help you through general expenses like bills, food and gas for the next twenty or so years. A study had been conducted and the results showed that on average, a retired individual at age 75 will only have a lifespan of ten or fifteen more years, but that’s not guaranteed for everyone. You need to be able to handle emergency situations, like loved ones being hospitalized or even yourself. Medicare and Social Security does not take care of all situations. You are going to find yourself paying for things you didn’t expect to pay for, after all this world thrives on money. Some say money can’t buy happiness, but as far as I’m concerned, it really does buy happiness and freedom, enough of it buys you financial freedom. Even if you do get lucky and live like forty or fifty more years, your retirement will need to back you up, and in this case it will have to be a platform of way more than $1.7 million dollars.

Money For Retirement

“So, when do I retire?”

The average standard retirement age is between ages 65 and 70. This is usually when individuals can start collecting benefits like Medicaid and Social Security. Also, your retirement benefits (your highest paid 35 years) would be accessible. As long as all these benefits and your savings add up to the million dollar platform, you will be free for the rest of your life. The best thing you could do right now if you’re considering retirement, is to talk to a financial advisor or a professional and see if everything adds up to give you that green light for “freedom alas”. The truth is, you can retire at any age as long as you have that million dollar platform built for yourself. If you have the resources to take care of you for the rest of your life after you quit your job, then go for it!
